Leveraging NYSERDA
Nearly all of my projects in New York State include securing funding for my clients from NYSERDA. The vast majority of the work I do is eligible for cost sharing through the NYSERDA FlexTech program.
For school districts, the NYSERDA P-12 initiative provides additional funding, including implementation funding through the Clean Green Schools Initiative.
Over the years, I’ve also leveraged special NYSERDA programs to support my clients, including PON 0004, which provided 100% funding for public facilities and PreK–12 schools. That eliminated the out-of-pocket cost to deliver comprehensive, investment-grade energy audits and feasibility studies.
The NYSERDA FlexTech program currently offers up to 100% funding for eligible school districts to conduct energy efficiency studies, removing one of the main budget barriers inherent in PreK–12 project financing.
Why FlexTech?
The NYSERDA FlexTech Program does more than offset the cost of a study, it adds structure, rigor, and credibility to the work.
Independent oversight
Every study goes through NYSERDA review, which adds a layer of quality control and helps ensure the results are objective and defensible.Structured process
A clearly defined application, scoping, and review process keeps the work focused, consistent, and aligned with best practices.Experienced, vetted consultants
Service providers are pre-qualified by NYSERDA, so you’re working with an advisor who has done this before and knows what holds up in real projects. That shows up in the quality of both the analysis and the recommendations.Pathway to implementation funding
Reviewers know FlexTech studies have been reviewed and approved by NYSERDA, helping to ensure proper due diligence has been taken in preparing the analysis. That paves the way for owners and operators to secure future NYSERDA incentive funding like the Clean Green Schools Initiative, as well as other government or utility funded capital programs.Credibility where it matters
Results backed by a NYSERDA program carries weight with leadership, boards, and finance teams, helping build the internal support needed to move forward on a project.
